If you’ve been following along in our posts about burnout, you already know that taking a short leave from work can be one of the kindest things you can do for yourself. But knowing that and actually doing it are two different things. So let’s talk about how it works in practice.
Book an appointment and just tell them honestly how you’re feeling. Doctors hear this more than you might expect — you don’t need to have the “perfect” story or worry about not being believed. If you’re already in therapy, mention it. It shows you’re already trying to take care of yourself, and that goes a long way. Your doctor can then write you a note recommending some time off, often two to four weeks.
